Stub-wings-roots

When the upper panel (honeycomb) is glued in place, we install the leading edge fuel tank for final.

To prevent any damage on the fwd spar, we didn’t drill any holes in it. First we glued wooden members on the front and aft spar. This will support the honeycomb panel and we can bolt the fuel tank on it. We installed an extra safety strap (the green web with the holes in the middle). On the LH side you see a green strap from the fwd to the aft spar. This will bring the extra torsion force from the fwd to the aft spar.

Turned her up side down. To do the lower side and place the gear. But forget to take pictures

Finished the stub wings, the black spot is an access panel to inspect and to do maintenance on the flap leavers.

The rules in Holland say we need to do a static test. So we put water in the tank (1g) and sandbags on top of it, together a total off 7g.

With the profiles connected to de waf’s we could measure the rotation of the fwd spar. We could not see any rotation.

Conclusion, we build the system strong enough.

Stubwings finished.
